10 years of Vienna Sunday Kitchen – review & highlights

Dez. 30, 2025 · Kommentar verfassen

Vienna Sunday Kitchen is celebrating its 10th anniversary! To mark the occasion, we're taking a look back at the last 10 years (including some pretty personal moments). ❤ Thank you all for joining me on this journey!

Here you'll also find the 10 most popular recipes from 10 years of Vienna Sunday Kitchen.

First recipes from Vienna Sunday Kitchen

At the end of November 2015, I purchased the domain www.vienna-sunday.kitchen, and at the end of December 2015, the first recipes went online: among others, a recipe for “hot chocolate sticks,” marzipan pigs, and wild boar ragout from my grandmother.

In January 2016, my mother, who was very close to me, died of breast cancer. Visiting my grandmother and cooking with her was our way of distracting ourselves so we wouldn't sink too deeply into grief.

My grandmother's recipes were very popular with you from the start, which is why I focused more on them. In addition, traditional recipes were less common on social media back then (10 years ago), and I wanted to help ensure that these tried-and-tested classics were not forgotten.

At the end of 2016, I started the “Vienna Cooking Classes,” where I organized cooking classes together with other amateur and professional chefs, many of them on a small scale in private apartments.

In 2019, everything was a bit much (baby, work, building a house...), so I stopped giving cooking classes and the blog was a bit quieter too.

In 2021, during my second maternity leave and the pandemic, I became more active here again and realized how much I had missed it!

In 2023, my grandfather's sausage salad won first place at the Austria Food Blog Awards. That gave me a huge boost of motivation and energy for the blog. (Photo © Katharina Schiffl)

In 2025, Vienna Sunday Kitchen's first cookbook and baking book was self-published—I'm so happy about that and looking forward to making a few more books!

Last but not least: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of you who try out the recipes here and give me feedback! None of this would be possible without you!
